In a beautiful village nestled along the Rhine River in the Ahr region of western Germany— where vineyards meet ancient volcanic landscapes—a young Faru discovered the gateway to other worlds when his uncle—a veteran DJ and collector since the 70s—gifted him his first records, turntable, and computer at age 12. Surrounded by steep, vine-covered hillsides that cascade toward the shimmering waters, where medieval castles stand sentinel against the mist-laden horizon, he became transfixed by the technology and otherworldly appeal of electronic soundscapes. In this place where the river’s ancient rhythms meet timeless landscapes, he began charting his course through sonic territories. Nights spent with Space Night on German television in 1994 became ritual journeys, the ambient soundtracks guiding his sleep and seeding a fascination with atmospheric realms that continues to this day.
The sonic alchemy of Biosphere, Autechre, GAS, The KLF, and Aphex Twin transformed his understanding of what music could be, revealing new possibilities in texture, space, and composition. Following these signposts, he ventured from DJing Techno and Dub-Techno into the uncharted depths of ambient composition and field recording.
Ambient creation has become Faru’s sanctuary—a meditative practice where he transmutes emotions and experiences into sound, often losing himself for hours in the process of transformation. Since 2016, his Drone and Ambient works have served as maps to unseen dimensions that exist between sound and silence. Listeners describe his compositions as “a natural orchestra in a dream-like manner,” as he decodes the hidden conversations between nature, noise, and harmonics.
The landscapes he captures through photography and field recording serve as artifacts from his explorations, raw materials that later emerge, transformed, in his extended sonic expeditions.
When not crafting soundscapes, Faru channels his visionary perspective as Chief Strategy Officer and Product Designer, co-founding Resonant.design in 2019, where they design for the next generation of music creation tools.
